Dear [insert name], I have joined The Revolution, a cycling adventure through Sonoma County to benefit participants in the Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP). On October 6th, I will be riding [10, 25, 65 or 100] miles on Sonoma County’s picturesque back roads along with BORP’s hand cyclists and visually impaired riders, who are now training and fundraising for the event. I have agreed to raise [insert goal] in support of BORP’s sport and adventure programs. BORP is a non-profit organization that fosters the health, independence, and social integration of youth and adults with physical disabilities through sport, fitness and recreation programs. Nationwide, high school students with disabilities have a 30% dropout rate. In sharp contrast, 100% of BORP’s high school participants in the past decade have graduated. Nationwide 70% of adults with disabilities are unemployed. Again, in sharp contrast, 70% percent of BORP’s adult participants have jobs. BORP’s programs are helping individuals with disabilities gain skills that lead to success in school, work, and life. [Insert two to three sentences about your experiences with BORP, why you are participating in the Revolution.] I hope you are able to support my ride by making a tax-deductible donation of [insert amount]. If so, please go to my personal fundraising page [insert URL], to make a secure online donation. You can also send checks payable to Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program to: BORP, 600 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA 94710. If you would like to join me for the ride (which includes a gourmet wine-country buffet,wine-tasting and free massage), or if you want to learn more about BORP, go to their website: www.borp.org and click on the “Revolution 2007” link. If you want more information about my participation in the Revolution, please contact me at: [insert email] or [insert phone number]. You can also contact BORP directly at (510) 849-4663 or revolution@borp.org. I hope you will join me in promoting healthy, active lifestyles for people with disabilities. Together we can re-define disability. Thank you, [Your name]
