Frequently Asked Questions

We are here to help you every step of the way. Need help writing letters? Learning about what BORP offers? Coming up with creative ways to meet your goal? Just let us know. Remember: riding the REVOLUTION is an effort you can be proud of, and above all, have fun! Thank you for joining The Revolution 2009!

How much money do I have to raise?

The fundraising minimum for individual riders is $350. Remember, your registration fee counts toward this total, so the simple fact that you have registered puts you closer to that goal! The fundraising minimum for youth (8-18) is $150. Children under 8 are not required to raise a certain minimum, but are encouraged to fundraise in order to win prizes. The fundraising minimum is optional for outriders and sighted tandem captains riding with a blind or visually impaired athlete.

Do volunteers have to fundraise?

Volunteers will be added to the fundraising page for the Revolution.  While they are not required to fundraise, they are strongly encouraged to do so.  Volunteers are eligible for the same prizes as riders.

What do I get in return for my fundraising efforts?

For starters, you can be proud of what you are doing for BORP's participants. Know that every donation is creating opportunities for youth and adults to experience the inner-strength that comes from successfully setting and meeting goals, be it on the playing field, in school, or at work.

I meant: are there prizes?

Every rider who meets their minimum fundraising goal is invited to join the Food, Wine & Music Festival following the ride. That means, just by doing the minimum, you get a scrumptious meal, a professional massage, wine-tasting, and so much more!

In addition, we have prizes & incentives for those who go beyond the minimum. Once you get started, you'll see how easy this can be. And if you ever feel stuck, let us know! We'll help you get to whatever goal you set!

Read about information on prizes & incentives.

What should I say in my emails and letters?

For a sample letter see the Fundraising Info page. Near the bottom you will find icons that look like paper. They are links to our sample letter. The letter is available for download in three formats; Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, and plain text.

What else can I do, besides writing a letter?

There are endless possibilities for getting to your goal. Utilize your talents. On our Fundraising Information page, there are alternative ideas to spark your creativity!

What does a team captain do?

Team captains recruit friends and family to join The Revolution and encourage their fundraising efforts. The team that raises the most funds will win an awesome prize!

What support does BORP offer team captains?

As always, we are here to help you be successful! One of the most effective ways to recruit new riders for your team is to organize a recruiting event. Again, the ideas for such an event are endless, but could include a house party, a club ride, or a staff meeting at your office.

If you would like a BORP representative to come to your event and make a short presentation about The Revolution and BORP's programs, contact us as far in advance as possible. Schedules permitting, we will gladly send someone to your event to help make the case for joining The Revolution! Contact us today: 510-849-4663 or revolution@borp.org.

What if I'm behind on my fundraising?
