Berkeley CA, Oct. 24th, 2011 – The Board of Directors of The Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) announced today that Kaia Burkett has resigned as Executive Director. Burkett will stay on until a replacement is found. The Board of Directors will begin the search for a new Executive Director immediately.
Burkett has led BORP for over four years. She cited personal and family reasons for her departure. “I am very proud of my tenure and accomplishments at BORP, yet I want to devote more time and attention to my family,” said Burkett.
“Kaia took over during a challenging time for BORP. She stabilized the organization and presided over a time of significant growth. She and the staff moved us forward in many ways. She leaves an important legacy. We wish Kaia the very best as she moves on to other challenging opportunities closer to home,” said Board President John Ormsby. “We are extremely grateful Kaia has agreed to remain on for a period of 3-6 months to insure continuity of programs, funding, partnerships, and staffing,” Ormsby added.
