BORP Power Soccer represented well at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Invitational held January 13th-14th. The BORP Shockers of Berkeley started the weekend slowly with a 0-2 Loss to their rivals across the Bay Bridge, the Golden State Ducks, followed by a 1-1 Draw against the STRAPS Scorpions. The Shockers then picked up steam, pulling off a dramatic, last-minute 2-1 victory against another local rival, the San Jose Steamrollers. The Shockers went on to sweep day two of the tournament with a 1-0 victory against an up-and-coming Ability United Squad and a 2-1 win against the Rose City Renegades from Portland, OR. The Shockers’ 3-2-1 record is especially impressive because their roster of 4 had to play every minute of every game.
The BORP-affiliated Golden State Ducks of San Francisco had a banner weekend to kick-off their second season. The six Ducks athletes who traveled to Phoenix went undefeated, garnering a 6-0 record. We can’t wait to follow both teams this season on their road to Nationals in June.
