Partners in Paddling!

We can do more together than we can do alone, and BORP is grateful to our partners! It’s time to send some shout outs to our friends of the kayak program.

I want to paddle more often, where can I go?
Time to meet our newest partner: Stacked Adventures! Located in Alameda, Stacked offers kayak and SUP rentals and tours with a 50% discount for BORP Members! While not an official adaptive kayaking provider, Stacked Adventures has features that will meet the needs of many, including:
  • Stable open cockpit tandem kayaks (the same boats used at BORP!)
  • Regular open hours!
  • A protected bay location!
  • Able to safely store mobility aids such as crutches or wheelchairs onsite.
Kayaking with Stacked Adventures is a beach or boat dock launch and requires 24 hrs notice, the ability to self-transfer or do so with self-provided assistance, and relies on Coast Guard or self-rescues if necessary. Contact Stacked Adventures at stackedadventures@gmail.com (415) 294-1972, or kayak@borp.org for more information.

What’s the prettiest place you’ve kayaked recently?
Well, it’s a tough call, but last Sunday’s trip to Tomales Bay with long-time partner ETC, sure ranks up there. ETC offers outdoor adventures to people with disabilities and youth from underserved backgrounds. BORP staff and ETC came together to offer a grand day on the water! Photos are from this trip.

What do BORP Kayaking and NASA have in common?
We like to explore? We’re both out of this world? Yes, but also Chris Taggart makes parts for both of us! Thanks to Chris for his exceptional volunteering and engineering!
In terms of dedication, is there a partner who keeps showing up?
Yup, hats off to East Bay Regional Parks District who keeps sending over wonderful staff volunteers, hosts events, and has been tireless in improving their accessibility. Looking forward to more great times on the water together!

Do you know of a person or organization who BORP should partner with?
Let us know!  Email kayak@borp.org.
