A couple of weeks ago, BORP hosted an unforgettable event at Crown Beach in Alameda, offering participants a unique chance to experience one of summers biggest joys, a day on the beach. For many, this marked the first time in years they could independently explore the sand. The Nature Track Foundation brought in 10 Freedom Trax, special all-terrain attachments that allow wheelchair users to smoothly navigate the sand, unlocking a whole new sense of freedom.

Over the course of two days, attendees rolled across the beach, soaking in the sun and sea with smiles on their faces. Many participants shared how meaningful it was to regain access to moving independently on the sand.

This remarkable experience wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, the dedicated staff at East Bay Regional Park District, and the incredible efforts of everyone involved. A huge thank you to all who helped make this transformative event a reality!
