SF Cycling’s Int’l Reach

This is Matias, a 24 year old Norwegian exchange student at SFSU, wanting to tell you about the great time me and my family were having with the BORP-bikes last week. I got in touch with Jay Bain and BORP after getting it recommended both from a Bike-in-SF group on Facebook, and from a bike rental place called Parkwide. I reached out to so many places because my sister has a disability (Cerebral Palsy) and needs a tandem bike, and we wanted to bike around in SF one day when my family visited me. The thing was that we wanted the bike to be electric, because we’ve experienced a human-powered bike being too heavy. The only one we could find was at Jay and BORP (a side-by-side electric tandem bike). He met us at Golden Gate Park and scheduled his day to fit in our plan. He even rescheduled it when my family’s plane was delayed and they had to sleep longer in the morning. Jay also had a three-wheeled sitting bike for my mum and a two-wheeled bike for my dad. At first we thought we wanted to bike a long distance, possibly over the Golden Gate Bridge, but we understood that would be too tough. Instead, we biked around in Golden Gate Park, down to Ocean beach and up the Cliff house hill (the tandem bike was a bit heavy to get up there). Then we bought some food at Geary and had a nice picnic in Golden Gate Park, before heading back to hand in the bikes. Jay met us both times and took his time giving us instructions of how to use the bikes. Thanks a lot to Jay and BORP for a great day!
