BORP receives $40,000 Quality of Life Grant from the Dana and Christopher Reeve Foundation to support expanded outreach and engagement of people with paralysis in the Latino/a/x communities in the Bay Area.
“We are honored to receive this award,” says BORP Executive Director Emily Seelenfreund. “For nearly 50 years BORP has been the Bay Area’s primary provider of sports and recreation opportunities for people with paralysis and other vision and mobility disabilities, yet there are still way too many people in our community who do not know these options exist and may face additional barriers to participation. Funding from the Reeve Foundation provides critical capacity for our outreach staff, who already have the lived experience and cultural competency to be great community liaisons.”
The award is part of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation National Paralysis Resource Center (NPRC) 2024 Priority Impact Cycle Quality of Life grants, (22 grants for $824,289). The Quality of Life Grants Program supports nonprofit organizations that empower individuals living with paralysis. Since the Quality of Life Grants Program’s inception, more than 3,990 grants totaling $46 million have been awarded. Funding for this program was made possible through a cooperative agreement with the Administration for Community Living (ACL grant #90PRRC0006-04).
