Battle of the bay: Competitive wheelchair rugby is back in California

A collaboration between BORP and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System brought competitive wheelchair rugby back to California for the first time since the pandemic. The two-day Battle of the Bay tournament was hosted at the VA campus in Palo Alto. Thirty players comprising the Reno-SF Bay Area High Fives, the Las Vegas High Rollers, and the Texas Stampede teams competed in front of friends, family, and interested members of the public over the course of eight intense and action-packed games. Hosting a tournament in the Bay Area allowed new players on the BORP-supported High Fives to compete in their first ever tournament and for interested potential new players to check out the local team. The tournament was well-received by guest teams who encouraged the sponsors to host another tournament next year, hopefully even bigger.
