I am a Californian, though born in Manila, Philippines at the end of WWII, of parents born in Manila and Shanghai. In 1951 we returned to the US for good; I grew up in San Mateo. I am a physician (primary care of adults) and have been happily retired for ten years. My personal interests are wide: history, natural history, cultures and languages. I love being in the outdoors, in whatever way I can. Helping other people enjoy our natural world satisfies me greatly.
