Fundraising Tips
The REV is a fundraiser grounded in peer-2-peer fundraising, which means that our wonderful participants reach out to friends, family, local businesses and more for direct support to reach, and exceed, their personal fundraising goals.
Your passion for and support of BORP is key to making the REV a success, and the more successful the REV is, the more that BORP can offer year-round in terms of programming. Let’s REV it up together!
REV participants often send an initial donation request and 2-3 reminder emails to friends and co-workers, etc., who are potential donors. We’ve learned that with each reminder, donations generally arrive within a day–and believe it or not, folks often get thanked for the reminder!
Be sure to keep your emails brief, but personal. And don’t forget to add the link to your personal fundraising page (you can find your personalized link in your fundraising dashboard; view the fundraising scoreboard here.)
If you have social media accounts, be sure to post about your REV fundraising there, too! You can use BORP posts and share them, or create your own. Be sure to tag BORP on your posts. Here are quick links to BORP’s official pages on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. ..and don’t forget to use the #borpREV2024 hashtag.
Below are copy-and-paste sample letters that you can use as you write your outreach emails to folks in your donation circle:
-Initial outreach email:
I am emailing to ask you to consider supporting my ride in BORP’s 22nd annual Revolution Ride, Roll & Stroll. As you may know, the ride supports all of BORP’s adaptive sports and recreation programs for disabled children, youth and adults throughout the Bay Area. These programs, from team sports like wheelchair basketball and sled hockey to adaptive cycling, and adaptive fitness, are truly game-changers for BORP’s participants and just about the only opportunity for people with disabilities to experience the joys and social benefits of sports and recreation. BORP has recently added more adaptive sports to their program menu: wheelchair rugby, kayaking, climbing, archery, and pickleball. Thanks again for all your past support and your consideration this year. To support my ride you can click on this link: (add your personal link)
-Reminder email:
